Palliative Care in living with advanced cancer

Living with advanced cancer has become possible for longer these days with advancement of cancer treatment. Living well matters too. At this stage, palliative care complements alongside the oncologists in helping one living with advanced cancer, through guidance on considering priorities and what matters in life whilst still pursuing treatment and symptom management.

Care may be delivered through outpatient consultations or coordinated hospital-based services, depending on your needs.

Side Effects & Support

Whilst working closely with the oncologist, the palliative care team collaborates with the palliative care providers in the community for a seamless continuity and support at home. This includes symptom management in the convenience and comfort of being at home. They are readily accesible in times of need. This can also be an opportune time where one is able to take the time to think through the important and meaningful conversations in planning life priorities and preference with loved ones.

Going through this transition can be overwhelming at times. The multidisciplinary team from the community will be there for you to cope with the psychoemotional, spiritual and caregiving needs when one needs more support.

If you are receiving treatment in Oncocare, you may reach out to our supportive/palliative care nurses in the clinic on how we can assist you based on your situation. You may also discuss with your oncologists more about what palliative care based on your condition.
