Dr Leong Swan Swan is a Senior Medical Oncologist at OncoCare Cancer Centre. Her subspecialty interests include lung cancer, thyroid cancer, and head and neck cancers. She has more than 30 years of clinical practice.

Dr Leong Swan Swan completed her basic medical studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and obtained her Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine (NUS) as well as Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom). She underwent postgraduate training in Medical Oncology at Singapore General Hospital and subsequently pursued a fellowship with a special focus on thoracic oncology under the mentorship of Dr Mark Green at Hollings Cancer Center. She attained Specialist Accreditation in Medical Oncology as well as certification from the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).

Prior to joining OncoCare Cancer Centre (Singapore), Dr Leong served as a Senior Consultant in the Department of Medical Oncology. She has extensive experience managing a wide range of tumour types, including breast, colorectal, gastric, oesophageal, lung, head and neck, and thyroid cancers, as well as gynaecological cancers, sarcomas, lymphomas, and rarer cancers such as mesothelioma. She was actively involved in multidisciplinary tumour boards and established herself as a key opinion leader in lung and head and neck cancers. She was also a Visiting Consultant at Changi General Hospital. In addition, she served as Director of the Ambulatory Treatment Unit at the National Cancer Centre and as Chairperson of the Code Blue Team. In addition to her clinical work, she was actively involved in undergraduate medical education as a clinical tutor for medical students and teaching junior doctors and nurses. She has also delivered multiple public lectures.

She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Singapore Society of Oncology, and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). She has also served on the Bylaws Committee and as Auditor of the International Society of Geriatric Oncology. In addition, she was involved in setting up and running of the Singapore Lung
Cancer Consortium.

Her research interests focus primarily on lung cancer and head and neck cancer. She has been actively involved in clinical and translational research, including investigator-initiated and multi-centre industry-sponsored trials, some of which contributed to the approval of targeted therapy drugs. She has served as principal investigator for more than 10 clinical trials in cancer drug development. She has published widely in both local and international journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, and has authored book chapters on the staging and treatment of lung cancer. In recognition of her expertise, she has served as a reviewer for several journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Respirology, and the Singapore Medical Journal.
