Dr Tan Hon Lyn is a Senior Medical Oncologist. Her subspecialty interests include gastrointestinal cancers such as gastric, colorectal, biliary tract, pancreatic, and liver cancers, as well as gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs) and neuroendocrine tumours.

She obtained her undergraduate medical degree from the National University of Singapore where she received the Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal for being the best graduate throughout the course of study. She completed her postgraduate training in the Internal Medicine Residency Programme and obtained her postgraduate qualification from the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom). She subsequently completed her specialist training in the Senior Residency Programme in Medical Oncology at the National University Health System.

Prior to entering private practice, Dr Tan Hon Lyn was a Consultant in the Department of Haematology-Oncology at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS), practising at the National University Hospital (NUH) and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH). She was actively involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, with appointments including Clinical Assistant Professor under the Clinical Faculty Scheme at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and Core Faculty for the National University Health System Internal Medicine Residency Programme.

She has been involved in clinical research in several international multi-centre trials. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology and Clinical Cancer Research. In addition to presenting her research internationally, she has been invited to serve as a chairperson and speaker at local and regional oncology meetings. She has also collaborated with international experts and contributed to cancer management guidelines in the Asia Pacific Gastroesophageal Cancer Congress (APGCC) 2024 consensus statement. Dr Tan is the Honorary Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Singapore Society of Oncology (SSO).

Dr Tan is fluent in English and Mandarin, and can also converse in Hokkien, Teochew, and Malay. She has extensive experience caring for both local and regional patients, including those from Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Bangladesh, and India.
